To see a world in a grain of sand and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour.
Duhita is the innocent milk maiden. (duhitá means "daughter" or an Aryan milk maid in Sanskrit)
Don't remember where the original photo I used was from (maybe "People" or a clothing catalog. I changed some things like her eyes a bit for a different effect)
This is a very stirring peice. Your attention to detail is remarkable especailly the hair and eyes, and I may only imagine the time that must have gone into the immaculate shading. The expression on that young ladies face is however what I find the most appealing aspect. If I may be so bold as to make a gesture as to the impression it gives me, I would say that it is as if she stands at a point of total wonder at a new world or door in her life. Perhaps innocence lost. Because to me I those ever so striking eyes and that mouth look poised for a kiss that leads towards an embrace, and then to rapture. A very striking peice of art. I also like the selection of poetry, was this drawn for the poem?

Woh. Well, the whole "total wonder at a new world" is actually EXACTLY what I was shooting for. I did this like everything else- from a picture- but widened the eyes and rounded the face to make her look less seductive and more like a young woman slightly anxious, in wonder and a bit of fear, at her life being completely upended. Duhita is a character of mine who represents innocence and purity in a battle against evil. It's also a battle to save the few precious things in life, like innocence. "Innocence is the only gift in life, everything else we fight for." As for a kiss, hmmm...hadn't thought of that, at least not consciously. I have been thinking a lot about such losses of purity lately so I'm sure Freud would have a bit of input.
I like doing art to poetry since these are both passions of mine, but this one was a character creation with a pairing of poetry. I try to name my works with poetic verses and found this Blake as a little scrap in my collection notebook. It just fit PERFECTLY. So there ya go. As for my character, Duhita, I'll me keeping her away from that rapture part. If it's onem thing I know from watching a few scary movies: those who engage in any hankipanky get the chop. She's a little too young anyways. Maybe if there's a sequel...
Anywho- thanks for the thorough comment. I'm glad you liked it. I really didn't spend any especial amount of time on this one since it's just to illustrate a character. (Gasp) Maybe I'm just getting faster..... Nah.

Perhaps so, if your speed might increase without loss of precision then it is a gift. The idea of pairing a work with poetry is a novel yet old idea (this is not to say that it is common), that to me has always added a feeling and emotion to a peice of paper. By the way in my experience and by no means is this meant to stir you towards anger or perhaps offence, but innocence is never free, ignorance perhaps, but never innocence.
Post Scriptus,
I will be watching for a sequel.
